Sex Drugs and Rocky Road will be held in The Out Back Shack on November 12.

The event is completely free and allows to students to participate in a variety of activities including rapid HIV testing, which lets students to know their HIV status in minutes. Other activities focus on things like harm reduction, consent, and overall sexual health. The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) will also be in attendance, offering STI testing to students.

Fanshawe’s Sexual Violence Prevention Advisor, Leah Marshall, said that taking care of your sexual health is just a part of taking care of your overall health.

“I think in our society, sex is really stigmatized,” she said. “We don’t have a lot of open conversations about the sex that we want and don’t want, and how to care for ourselves in terms of our sexual health.”

Sex Drugs and Rocky Road will offer a safe space on campus, something Marshall said makes it easier for students to discuss important topics that they might not address otherwise.

“We create a space where we’re offering students this information in a way that’s also fun.”

Gift bags made for the event will feature products from local partner, Spot of Delight, and are available on a limited basis. Students are encouraged to come early and participate in activities to ensure they receive a gift bag.

So come out for the ice cream, come out for the goodies, but most importantly, come to learn and ask questions about your sexual health.
