Students bring Burlesque, sexy, back

Get out your feather boa, raunchy sense of humour and sensual-side to prepare yourself for the Cadillac Vamps Burlesque show.

Fashion Design student Carrie Russell and her troop of performing divas have been in the burlesque business for just over a year, but have attracted a huge following in the London area.

“It's very female empowering,” said Russell, who is better known as “Cherry Delight” on stage.

The eight to ten girls who perform regularly in the troop have created on-stage personas, such as the punk “Misfit Missy or the Russian mail-order bride “Dixie Deportee,” that exemplify their off-stage personality.

Russell said the four-hour show not only involves the art of Burlesque (the girls sensually strip-down to vintage-inspired pasties and panties), but they also act out their character's plots on stage.

Of course there is help from their humourous MC Furious Phil, who keeps the crowds laughing with his raunchy sense of humour.

When she first started performing, Russell thought the majority of spectators would be college/university-aged, but since has discovered that a wide-variety of fans turnout to their sold-out shows.

The Cadillac Vamps and their Tease-O-Rama show will be on stage at Call the Office this Saturday night, January 20, from 10 pm- 2 am. Tickets are $10 and available at BNVS and Speed City Records on Richmond, or at the door.
