Who will represent your SAC?

It's your money; now you have the power to decide who spends it.

Student Administrative Council (SAC) elections are being held next week, October 4 and 5, so have your say. Your vote decides who will represent your academic division as the major governing board of the FSU.

The elected SAC representatives will be responsible for a number of tasks including; major policy-making for the Student Union; receipt, consideration and approval of budgets for clubs and associations; and represent the Student Union on internal and external committees.

The Student Union collects $54.70, plus a number of ancillary fees like the bus pass fee, from every full-time Fanshawe Student's tuition.

There are 10 academic divisions, such as Tourism and Hospitality, Communication Arts, Business Studies and General Studies. Each candidate must be a full-time Fanshawe student and have had at least 10 nominations from peers who are in their same division.

“They will vote on numerous student life proposals, relay information between the executive council and class reps and also, all clubs must be considered by SAC,” said FSU president Melissa Smart.

“Without their voice we couldn't possibly know half of the student issues otherwise.”

Polling stations will be open from 10am until 2pm on Tuesday October 4 and Wednesday October 5 at DEF junction across from Tim Hortons, by the library and by D Caf.

Students are reminded that it is a ballot election and those who wish to vote must be registered full-time and have a valid student card. You can only vote for someone in your own division.

Online voting will not be made available this year due to lack of student online turn out in last years executive election.

FSU President Melissa said it is SAC's job to ensure the right people are doing the right job.

“They are the voice for students. As a student if you don't vote then how do you know that you are being represented the way you would like to be?”

The winners will be announced in the FSU office, SC 2001, on Thursday October 6, and in the Interrobang student newspaper on Friday, October 7.
