Shack gets summer makeover, Yeti Burger

One pound ground beef, seven strips of bacon, two ounces fried onion tanglers, lettuce, tomato and two ounces of cheese all on a specialty bun. ‘The “Yeti Pile” Burger' is the newest addition to The Out Back Shack's menu this summer and already the talk around campus.

With summer already underway and The Shack open for business, you can order the new Yeti Burger for $13.25 with the basic toppings and fries on the side. For all those who crave the additions, customers are also given an option of adding extra cheese for an additional $1.75 or six strips of bacon at cost of $4.50, both sure to fill the hunger void.

To date, three burgers have been sold to students' hungry and patient enough to wait out the 15-minute preparation time it requires cooking this patty to perfection, which contains no animal bi-products and no oatmeal filler.

This all beef patty was dubbed “What the Yeti leaves behind” by Out Back workers, who adopted the name that is sure to still be seen on the menu well into the September school year.

The Out Back Shack has also taken into consideration the need to expand, and is renovating over the summer months in order to provide staff and students with the best environment in order to kickback and relax.

Starting June 16, renovations will be made to the inside of the pub over a two-week period, with a finishing date projected by June 30. But, not to worry pub-goers, in the meantime food and drinks will continue to the served in Forwell Hall right next door.

Mike Hall, Manager at the Out Back Shack is looking forward to the changes but wants to continue business as normal.

“We want students to know that The Shack is not closing.” Hall said.

Their summer hours will continue as normal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday, serving to those wandering the halls of Fanshawe, right up until June 30 before closing for July and August in anticipation for the September school year.

In order to take advantage of the space within the pub, construction will add 20 extra seats for larger groups coming through. They will be changing the style of their current décor by bringing in a more comfortable chair and table design, as well as booths that will be set up around the perimeter.

Finally, with a new coat of paint and alternative set up behind the bar, The Out Back Shack hopes to create a more comfortable atmosphere for all of those stopping through. Hall encourages students to provide staff with feedback in order to continue to improve their already superior reputation.
