Fanshawe goes to the Big Apple

Fanshawe students have the chance to strut down Broadway, shop on Fifth Avenue and get a taste of the big apple in July, when the bus to NYC departs from London.

For three full days and two nights, the FSU is organizing a bus trip to the infamous city. The $385 fare includes quad accommodations at a hotel just seconds away from Times Square, transportation to and from the city, travel insurance, all taxes, tips and exchange rates.

Leaving Fanshawe a midnight Wednesday, July 18 and arriving in NYC before noon the next day to the Hotel Edison. This art deco hotel, built in 1931 during the same era as Radio City Music Hall, and the hotel's café, Café Edison, has been called the “unofficial clubhouse of the New York theater district.” Rumor also has it that scenes of the Godfather were filmed inside the Edison.

Once in Manhattan, travellers are left to their own devices to explore the city's grid of towering buildings, unforgettable museums and endless amounts of culture.

Must-sees include a show on Broadway, Times Square, The Empire State Building, Little Italy, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Garment District, Wall Street, The Statue of Liberty, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the multitude of clubs, bars and restaurants, not to mention the enchanting Central Park.

The coach will be heading back to London in the evening of Saturday, July 21 and arriving back to the college on Sunday morning.

The New York Experience is open to all staff and students, and you must have confirmation of quad accommodation at time of booking. You must also have the required identification to cross the Canadian/American Border. For more information visit the Biz Booth in the SUB. Bookings began last week, so if you are interested book as soon as possible as space is limited.
