Gamer Review: Capcom Classics still a perfect score!

My, oh my! I think it just wet myself! This has got to be one of the best compilation titles ever! I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember when going to the arcade was an event; you got to play games that you would never dream about playing at home because the graphics were so intense. You also had to opportunity to mingle with other gamers and compete with them to see who had bragging rights and could keep going on the machine without paying more money.

Well, it seems that Capcom has that nostalgia bug and is passing it along to gamers with their Classics compilation that brings you a total of 22 classic arcade titles, all of which are emulated perfectly and are 100 per cent faithful to the arcade.

I'll start off with one of the highlights of the compilation: the entire Ghosts N' Goblins series. You get three of the most frustrating yet fun to play platformers on this disc. Ghosts N' Goblins and Ghouls N' Ghosts are the actual arcade versions and not the old NES and Genesis versions (respectively). Super Ghouls N' Ghosts is the SNES version but seems to have no lag whatsoever, although the SNES version had lots.

You also get the wonderful Street Fighter 2 in this set. If you are a fan of the updated versions of the classic, you can also choose from SF2: Championship Edition (where characters are more balanced and you can play as the bosses) or SF2 Turbo (speed selection for the fighters is an option).

Final Fight, which used to be on the SNES and the Genesis CD-ROM is also arcade perfect with all three characters available to use, simultaneous two player action and even the hookers are left in. Hookers!

There are many more great games on this compilation and it's definitely worth the $30, especially for old school gamers like me. If you've never played any of these games, you owe it to yourself to go out and rent this compilation because I bet you that after you sink your teeth into some of these gems, you'll be adding it to your PS2 library. BRAVO, Capcom! 10 out of 10.
