Fashion Fashionista: Eco-friendly fashion making a comeback

Just as weather patterns are cyclical and often unpredictable, so is fashion. Trends from our childhood, and our parents childhood, are reoccurring today as ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s trends are sliding through the cracks and reinventing the wheel combining all fashions to create the new, post millennium blended look.

In the 1960's the classy dressy look was dominating every American girl, and Jackie-O “The queen of graceful style” brought these trends to life. Her oversized sunglasses and feminine dresses are a staple today, along with her slender coats and polished appearance. Always a style to fall back on, this look is still dominating women all over the world today.

Hippies are hipper than ever, as the chilled-out, peace advocate earth vibe is back by popular demand. This is where politics meets fashion and green values, anti-global warming and pro-peace attire not only look attractive, but are very influential. Peace sign necklaces, rings, belts and tees are sending a powerful and positive message. The ‘70s cry for unity is back and more necessary than ever. Using fashion as a personal statement is what it is intended for, so why not send the right message?

History repeats itself again as rocker glam of the ‘80s has been squeezing its way back on the runway for years. Sienna Miller displayed her ‘80s-glam look on the cover of the September issue of Vogue rocking the bushy brows with dark lips look. Tights are everywhere, and prove that some trends are worth a comeback; however the rattail, neon everything look can in my opinion become extinct.

Vintage can mean many things, but in the land of anything goes, you can take a little bit of everything to create a universal look depicting many eras and make it all your own.
