August 28
London Police Services holds a press conference to announce that Project Speak Easy is returning for its third year has been renamed Project LEARN. Aimed at addressing noise and other student related problems in the communities surrounding both UWO and Fanshawe, the initiative means that police will be operating regular foot and bicycle patrols in the more problematic areas.
September 9
London Police Services respond to a call regarding a party spilling into the streets on Fleming Dr. near Fanshawe College. Partiers start throwing beer bottles and taunting the police and by the end of the night the number of officers on hand had swelled to around 30.
The party resulted in four arrests, two charges and one Fanshawe student being tasered. The incident resulted in Fanshawe making the news from Toronto to Edmonton under some no-so-great circumstances.
September 28
Students on Fleming closeout project LEARN with a bang, as that day before it was slated to end police were once again called to deal with a party in the area. Two hundred people were said to be gathered in the streets and were throwing beer bottles amongst themselves. One student was taken to the hospital for stitches after being hit with a beer bottle that was hurled into a crowd.
October 13
The police respond to a call about multiple stabbing at 900 Fanshawe College Blvd. after a fight breaks out at a party. In addition, a third person was sent to the hospital in serious condition after being hit with a beer bottle. The attack resulted in a gash running from the victims' temple to jaw.
October 15
The college responds to the weekends' attacks by sending out an email to all the students requesting that they limit the size of their parties, and refrain from posting mass invitations in online forums such as Facebook. The police also release a statement saying that for the following weekend they will have increased patrols in the area to avoid any further problems.
