The Hoolie Snatch to open for White Cowbell Oklahoma

White Cowbell Oklahoma brings with them to Fanshawe a new meaning to the word entertainment, with a spectacle of ten-gallon hats, chainsaws, exotic dancing and Southern-style rock n' roll.

“They have four guitar players,” said FSU Entertainment Programmer Pat Maloney, who booked White Cowbell Oklahoma. “The Sheriff on the cowbell grinds the cowbell with a belt sander.”

The ten-piece band (with an additional 20-plus on stand-by any given night) are known for their on stage presence. Members like Chainsaw Charlie literally rips it up on stage by tearing through toilet paper with a chainsaw, only to coat the audience with instant toilet paper confetti.

Other Cowbell, or WCO as they are also known, members include Clem on guitar, Crystal Meth Dealin,' Sgt. Rock on lead vocals, The cousin who hath no name on guitar/southern shine harp, Jessup H. Christ, who likes to take off his shirt and play guitar and Sheriff R.F. Horton, on cowbell and 600 volt tazer. There is also Dingo Von Devereaux on percussion and concussion, Jesse on the organ, Bubba Lee Phett on bass and Hollis on double neck guitar.

Opening for this spectacle of your eyes and ears is Maloney's own band The Hoolie Snatch, who have a strong connection to Fanshawe. Lead guitarist, Eric Walker, is in his second year of MIA, while Maloney graduated from the program in June. Lead singer Jen Kee is also from the area and bassist Mike Smith is in his final year of bass performance at Western.

In June, The Hoolie Snatch released their first self-titled EP, which was recorded between September and December 2006 at Fanshawe, and have been touring Ontario in promotion of their rock/funk sound.

“Over the next few years we are going to pump-up the radio play at colleges,” said Maloney. The band is also planning an East and West coast gigs for next summer.

The Hoolie Snatch new EP will be on sale at The Shack on New Music Night on November 9, as well as online at iTunes.

Aside from The Hoolie Snatch and Cowbell, the Wild Birds from New Jersey will also be performing on Friday night.
