Mentoring for Success

Mentoring For Success is a volunteer program that connects current Fanshawe students with grads from the same program.

Alumni established in their careers can offer advice, guidance, support and encouragement from the perspective of someone who's been there. Over the six months students work with their mentors they typically job shadow, build their professional network, learn about possible career paths and develop their résumé.

In addition to making individual mentoring matches, Mentoring For Success is proud to offer its participants a career-related series of events.

Three free events that are set for March will conclude the 2007-08 schedule:

Wednesday, March 5: Mock Interviews
5:30-8pm, Alumni Lounge - Student Union Building
Practice making your first impression in an interview setting or choose to ask those tough questions of a potential candidate. This interactive event promises to be lots of fun! In partnership with HRPLD.

Thursday, March 13: Lunch & Learn: How to break into the HR field
Noon-1pm, Woodstock campus
The Human Resources field is very competitive. Join us at Woodstock campus to discuss challenges, ask questions and gain insight to building a career in HR.

Wednesday, March 26: Create a First Impression
5:30-8:30pm, Saffron's Restaurant
Is your wardrobe holding you back? Do you have trouble creating a “put-together” look? Do you know what impression you leave after an initial meeting?

Image Consultant, Susan Jacobs of Personal Style, will provide an engaging, hands-on approach to image.
