Around the Ring: WrestleMania taking shape

Although we were on a little break following WWE's No Way Out PPV, I just have to put in my two cents. First of all, I think the PPV was amazing. From beginning to end, even with the so-so matches, the show delivered. Both elimination chamber matches were great and had some good spots.

I just still can't comprehend how WWE let Jeff Hardy lose the match to S.I.L...I mean, HHH, who gets that top WM spot. Although I'll talk about Raw in a little bit, you can see over the last two weeks that making this a three way dance for the title isn't really going to help. It seems that WWE is promoting a HHH/John Cena rematch more than anything and making Randy Orton, who still gets a shot in every now and then, a second thought. Let's hope Hardy wins Money in the Bank and cashes it in THAT NIGHT.

Speaking of Hardy, with him in the Money in the Bank match means the IC belt won't be defended AGAIN at WM. We may know that WWE is up to something if Hardy defends the belt in the next four weeks and loses it. WWE brought Hardy down a notch with Y2J's win over him last Monday night.

Quickly touching on Smackdown...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Enough said? Actually, I can't wait to see who Umaga is going to destroy from the SD brand. I wouldn't doubt if they threw Kane or Khali against him.

TNA really hasn't done too much to get things into high gear for their next PPV. A three on three main even that really won't help any storylines doesn't sell PPVs. Let's hope something else will.

If we're talking about selling PPVs, I don't know if Mayweather vs. Big Show will draw too many non-wrestling watching people. I hope it does because this is supposedly costing WWE $20 million. I guess that's why they raised the WM price tag to $55 this year. What a bunch of horseshit.

HBK vs Ric Flair with Flair's career on the line. I'm not a big HBK fan, but if anyone can go toe to toe with the Nature Boy and deliver a match that Flair would be proud to go out with, it's HBK. Now imagine the surprise if Flair wins and actually goes to Summerslam? That would rule.

To end things this week, is anyone else thrown off by the abrupt ending to the JBL/Y2J feud in order to turn JBL into the messenger that Hornswaggle isn't McMahon's son? Where is this all of a sudden coming from? Yes, it was discussed here that the “bastard son” angle wasn't entirely finished but this just seemed to come out of nowhere. JBL says that lil' Hornswaggle is actually Finley's son (which would be believable) but that the conspiracy goes high up into WWE management. This may be the story to watch going into WM...except JBL is a prick and I can't even stand to watch him in the ring. Too bad this wasn't being done with any other heel.
