Canadian Women can't get no Sexual Satisfaction

Canadian men better pick up the slack because women all over this country are not satisfied when it comes to sex, according to a survey that studied gender differences in relation to sex and employment.

Of the four countries studied, which were Canada, United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands, Canadians rated the highest in overall agreement that “sex is overrated.” More specifically, 43 per cent of Canadian women agreed with that statement, compared with only 29 per cent of Canadian men.

JWT Worldwide, the largest advertising agency in America and fourth largest in the world, funded the study to gain a better understanding of the male market.

"Men and women are not in a place where they're particularly well synchronized," said Marian Salzman, executive vice-president of JWT in an interview conducted by CanWest News.

The study also found that women aren't taking this unsatisfactory performance lying down. A stunning 81 per cent of the Canadian sample agreed that women needed to be more demanding in bed.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also released a study recently that found 90 per cent of men and 88 per cent of women, between the ages of 25-44, have had oral sex with an opposite partner. On the other end of the spectrum, the study found 40 per cent of men and 35 per cent of women have had anal sex with an opposite—sex partner.

The study, which conducted over 12,000 face-to-face interviews in the United States, is the first of its kind to collect specific data on sexual orientation, experiences and behavior of teenagers.

“This is the first time we've had data on the use of oral sex by teenagers, particularly female teens,” said the study's lead author, Bill Mosher said in an interview with HealthDay.

The CDC study also asked specific questions relating to promiscuity. It found 19 per cent of men aged 20-24 had three or more partners in the last 12 months. In comparison, 17 per cent of 18-19 year old females had had three or more partners in the last year.

For all those still waiting for their first sexual experience, there is still hope. The study found 97 per cent of people between the ages of 25-44 have had sexual contact with an opposite sex partner at least once in their lives.

Other Highlights:

• 97 per cent of men and 98 per cent of women 25-44 have had vaginal intercourse.

• Six per cent of males and 11 per cent of females have had same-sex sexual contact in their lives. The proportion of women 18-25 years of age has increased from five per cent in 1990 to 14 per cent in the current study.
