Horton Hears one hell of a good movie

Horton Hears a Who!

They blew on bazookas and blasted great toots, on clarinets, oom-pahs and boom-pahs and flutes!

Dr. Seuss's book Horton Hear a Who! makes it's way to the big screen, in a big way.

Horton (voice by Jim Carrey) the elephant lives in the jungle of Noole. He teaches the young animals all about how the world around them is cool. One day after swimming, a speck of dust floats past Horton and he hears a tiny voice. Worried that a very small person is living on the speck, he quickly makes a choice. He grabs a clover for the speck to land on, hoping they will be safe and troubles be gone.

Down in Whoville, the Major (voice by Steve Carell) goes about his day. He talks to his 96 daughters and one son and sends them off to play. While at work the Major hears grumbles. Upon examining further, he hears they are mumbles. Horton's voice comes through the pipes, with information that will have a huge impact. Whoville was actually on a speck of dust and that was a fact. Horton promised the Major he would keep Whoville safe by placing on top of Mount Noole.

However, the Kangaroo (voice by Carol Burnett) had a plan that was ever so cruel. She had hired the vulture Vlad (Will Arnett) to destroy the speck and hopefully doing this would put the jungle back in check.

Horton makes it his duty to protect the speck by traveling far, setting in place, a journey quite bizarre.

I really liked this movie. I grew up reading Dr. Seuss books, so seeing his magical world come to life was a lot of fun. Jim Carrey (The Number 23) did a great job providing the voice for Horton. He is such a charismatic person and this added a lot to his character. Steve Carell (Dan in Real Life) was also amazing. He did an awesome job making the Major a nervous and insecure, but lovable character. Other big actors that also provided their voices to this movie were Carol Burnett as Kangaroo, Will Arnett as Vlad, Seth Rogen as Morton, Dan Fogler as Councilman, Isla Fisher as Dr. Mary Lou Larue, Jonah Hill as Tommy and Amy Poehler as Sally O'Malley. I recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of Dr. Seuss.

Final Words: Saw it. Liked it. “A person's a person, no matter how small.”
