Fanshawe revolutionizes the tube

The golden age of television is commonly believed to have occurred during the 1950s. However, the golden age of television here at Fanshawe has just begun!

The newly re-branded Fanshawe TV has long been a monopoly within Fanshawe, but those days are over. A new television network has popped up in the Student Union Building, leading to a full-scale ratings war that has seen thousands of eyeballs glued to the boob tube.

Recently a television set appeared outside of the Out Back Shack. The set is being used to create awareness of upcoming Fanshawe Student Union events. Among the highest rated programs on the set are “Drillbit Taylor First Run Film Poster” and “Bikini Bash Pub Night Promo.” In fact, “Bikini Bash Pub Night Promo” was the highest rated program of the week within Fanshawe, particularly scoring well with the 18-21 year old male demographic.

Meanwhile, Fanshawe TV has been working to keep its share of viewers by integrating several “talkies” into their program schedule. “Talkies” are programs that not only display moving images, but transmit audio as well. The idea is somewhat ahead of its time, and some television owners have been reluctant to make use of this technology by turning up the volume.

While there are quite a few differences between the two burgeoning television networks, they have been offering up some similar programming. For example, in the past week, both relayed information on how to purchase Toronto Blue Jays tickets from the Biz Booth. However, it is not simply a case of one network stealing ideas from the other, according to one expert.

“This type of situation is quite common,” explained Remington Bockwinkel III, curator of the Museum of Television and Cheese, located in Albany, New York. “Around the same time that “Dancing With The Stars” debuted, we also saw “Skating With Celebrities premiere. The same thing happened with “Nanny 911” and “Super Nanny.” We are living in a universe with an endless supply of distribution outlets, yet a limited amount of new ideas. Now, would you like to know anything about cheese?”

No, this reporter certainly did not want to learn anything new about cheese, as he was too excited about this new golden age of television. While both networks have been quite cordial with one another to this point, rumors have circulated that they are each developing strategies to blow away their competition. Fanshawe TV has reportedly begun negotiating with major stars such as Carrot Top and Daniel Baldwin to appear on one of their talk shows. Meanwhile, the FSU is negotiating to secure the rights to broadcast several Charlie Chaplin silent films.
