Falcons alumni returning to the nest

A busy weekend is in store for Fanshawe athletics during its annual homecoming event.

Various intercollegiate teams including men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's volleyball will be hosting games during the festivities.

Karen Monahan, Alumni officer, is heading up the event and said that the athletic component to homecoming is very essential.

“We encourage showing Falcon support, as a lot of alumni were a part of athletics, and it was an integral part of college life for them,” said Monahan.

The Falcon game day events get started at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22nd when the women's volleyball team battle against a group of Falcon alumni. Following that game the men's volleyball team host George Brown College at 2:00 p.m.

Fanshawe hoopsters will then take their part in the festivities as the women's basketball team will take on the Redeemer Royals at 4:00 p.m. The men will take on Redeemer as well, starting at 6:00 p.m.

“We're looking forward to our first season match,” said Lori Mackay, head coach of the women's basketball team. “This is homecoming so we hope to have a lot of support out.”

Many door prizes will be available throughout the day, as fans can win a chance to lounge in the “Super Fan Couch.” Cash donations will also be accepted for the Falcon Student Scholarship Fund.
