Positions within FSU now open

Now that you have settled into Fanshawe nicely, found all your classes, know where to eat and where to find all the good-looking people, you may be thinking, “There must be more?”

Well there is, and starting Monday, September 15 you have the chance to get more involved with your Fanshawe Student Union.

The FSU is looking for the best students from every division to represent on the Student Administrative Council (SAC) and if you really want to dig your nails into student politics, the FSU also has openings for two executive positions.

“We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who want to get involved, give back and make a difference in the Fanshawe Community,” said Fanshawe's student president, Jon Hillis.

One of the open executive positions are for the Vice President of Finance, whose roll is to oversee all financial responsibilities of the Student Union, act as a liaison between Financial Aid and the FSU, as well as other responsibilities.

The other executive position is for the Vice President of Internal Affairs, whose duties include overseeing all clubs, the Class Representative System, all awareness weeks on campus, as well as other responsibilities.

Executive positions also require the nominee to be available to students 12 hours every week in the FSU office, SC 2001, as well as regularly attend meetings.

As for the SAC positions, there will be an election for the 10 separate divisions. The elected SAC representatives will be responsible for the making of policies within the Student Union, meet with students within the specific division about problems or concerns, as well as attend bi-weekly meetings.

If you would like to run any of these positions, the FSU requires all nominees to gather at least 20 Fanshawe student signatures for the executive positions, or 10 signatures from students in the division you would like to represent. An information package will be available Monday, September 15 from the front desk at SC2001.

Nominations close on September 26 at 4 pm. The election for all positions will be held on October 8 and 9 from 9 am -2 pm online through FanshaweOnline and booths throughout the school.
