Around the Ring: Jericho for the Heavyweight win

Last week's Raw and Smackdown (not the one with the champion vs. champion matches — that hasn't happened as of the time of writing this) were no more that the usual pre-PPV shows that try to entice the fans to part with their money. With that being said, TNA wasn't any better — teasing Mick Foley again and having the BIG story of the night be Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle at their next PPV (ugh). Can't wait to see this week's Impact, though to see what Foley will do (man, I hate writing these on a Tuesday, but deadlines are deadlines, right?).

This week, I'll give my brief picks on WWE's No Mercy PPV.

World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match featuring HBK vs. Chris Jericho
Hopefully these two will do better this time around because I think their last match left something to be desired. Seeing how both men are almost masters of the ladder match, this one should be exciting. Jericho walks out as champ and you could see a possible feud between Cade and HBK bloom.

WWE Champion Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy
This one is hard to call. First, we'd all love to see Hardy with the belt, but he's messed up a couple times in the past. Can Vince forgive? Well, yes (both Hardys) and no (look at Macho Man Randy Savage). I think that Hardy MAY pull out a surprise win, but it's going to be because that Kozlov guy is going to set up his program with The Game.

ECW Champion Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry
Do we care? Uh, let's say that Matt wins. On a side note: I like Matt Hardy and think he's a great WWE worker. I just don't want to watch any feud or match that involves Mark Henry.

Batista vs. JBL
Batista has supposedly been bitching backstage about his role in the company but has come out on top over the last few months. JBL has jobbed most of the last few months. Who will win here? I say Batista because a JBL/Jericho feud will do nothing for ratings.

Big Show vs. Undertaker
I hope this isn't painful to watch. I wouldn't doubt if something happens to give the Big Show the win and to make the Undertaker get more time off so he can reappear at Survivor Series in November (or have an ultimate showdown to end the Vickie/Show feud for good at Summerslam).

Women's Championship Match featuring Beth Phonix vs. Candice Michelle
Candice isn't really good eye candy anymore and Beth is too powerful for any of us to believe that Candice could actually pull off a win here. Watch Candice stumble through the match (and possibly reinjure herself again). The only way Candice will win is if Santino costs Beth the match and they end Glamorella for good (which I hope they don't).

Rey Mysterio vs. Kane
I don't want Mysterio to lose his mask. It's what makes him! WWE makes so much dough off of that aspect of Mysterio's character that I can't possibly see them letting him lose. Then again, this is wrestling and WWE has pulled some stupid crap over the last two years. I still say that Mysterio wins.
