Taking the bus for free is a good deal compared to the cost of a parking spot

Anyway you look at it, parking at Fanshawe College is expensive.

At $3.25 per entry and two dollars per hour, the cost to drive to school adds up during the school year.

But those costs rise to the $100 mark if “your” car is towed, which can make matters a lot pricier.

Speaking to college officials, the Interrobang learned that although additional parking was considered, the mere cost of an underground parking facility, pegged at $20 million, gave it a no go.

There are also factors related to sustainability for the college in terms of reducing the number of people driving their own cars to school each day.

Emily Marcoccia, Manager of Communication for Fanshawe, said that the college did take a very serious look into additional parking for the London Campus, but at this point the master plan doesn't have room for that kind of expense.

Marcoccia also noted that the estimate given to the college for a parking structure would be close to a fifth of the year's total budget.
