Fanshawe is a positive space for gay students

It's finally September and we're all excited, eagerly waiting to see what this new school year will bring. I am especially excited, since I get to announce that Spectrum Fanshawe will be starting up again this fall for its second year running! For those of you who haven't seen our posters and haven't been introduced to Spectrum, here is an explanation of who we are:

Spectrum Fanshawe is an LGBTQ2 club (the acronym stands for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, 2 spirited and Questioning individuals). We also welcome our allies into our club. We serve as a safe space for LGBTQ2 individuals to meet and socialize; and we also proudly serve as advocates for the gay community at Fanshawe College.

But what exactly do we DO? You can expect to find a variety of events hosted by the club as we suit a wide range of interests. Spectrum regularly hosts discussion nights, film nights, coffeehouse nights, and other special social events like the AIDS Walk for Life, which was September 20, and the Rainbow Revolution in October, a collaborative event with PrideWestern.

On September 23, Campus Clubs Day, we will have a table set up across from the campus bookstore from 10 a.m. — 2 p.m. We encourage any interested students to drop by our table and say hello, as well as check out the rest of our information that will be available throughout the day.

If you have any questions or would like to obtain more info on our club and events, please email s_mank@fanshaweonline.ca. We welcome all students into our club, and we wish everyone a great September.
