Fanshawe student dies in motorcycle crash

At a time of the year usually filled with anticipation and excitement, Fanshawe experiences the loss of one of its newest students.

Travis Cooper, 18, died in the hospital last week due to injuries he received in a motorcycle crash on Oxford Street at Cherryhill Blvd that occurred on Tuesday, September 8.

“The college is just expressing extreme sadness over such a tragic event at the beginning of the year,” said Emily Marcoccia, director of marketing and communications at Fanshawe.

According to Cooper's family, he had been excited to be a part of the college, said Marcoccia. He was just beginning the Architectural Technology program.

There have been 10 traffic-related deaths on London roads this year compared to only three during the same time last year. Cooper is the third fatality involving a motorcyclist.
