Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs deliciously fast-paced and funny
A science geek tries to impress his sardine-producing town by building his greatest invention yet- a machine that turns water into food. Obstacles include his technically challenged fisherman father, his gummy bear obsessed monkey, a cop who is protective of the city and a very hungry mayor.
I'm not usually one to like cartoon movies, but Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was a pleasant surprise. Although it was based on the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, written by Judi Barrett in 1978, the film doesn't resemble the story as much as some people may like.
The quick comedy made it constantly entertaining with never a dull moment. And really, how can a movie with the voices of James Caan, Mr. T and Neil Patrick Harris all in it be anything but interesting?
I found Mr. T's character, Officer Earl Devereaux to be particularly enjoyable, but determined that every character was perfectly cast and indispensable to the story line. The humour in the movie is entertaining for children and yet has adult references to please the older crowd.
