Here is what's buzzing in La-la land this week:

1. The Golden Globe Awards had almost 17 million viewers, upping the ratings by 14 per cent for NBC. Was it this year's host comedian Ricky Gervais that drew the increased viewers or the need for distraction from all the Haiti news coverage?

Michael C. Hall2. Another shock of the Golden Globes was not Michael C. Hall's win for his role in Dexter, but for his black head wrap. Having kept his cancer quiet for the past year, he is recovering from Hodgkin's lymphoma and the prognosis is positive, saying, “It's nice to have an excuse for accessorizing.”

3. Heidi Montag splashes the cover of People Magazine this week revealing her recent 10 plastic surgeries in one day! Supposedly keeping these procedures from her family, she stated this action as a journey toward “the best me.” So she's flaunting her low self-esteem to get on magazine covers while Michael C. Hall graciously keeps his life-threatening disease private. Hmmm, and my respect goes to...

4. Brittany Murphy's mom and husband, in their first interview since her December death state they firmly believe she died from a congenital heart murmur and not drugs. They claim Brittany had been diagnosed with a heart condition in her teens, and was not mentally ill or had an eating disorder. Either way, I am going to miss her movies.

5. Wyclef Jean's organization, Yéle Haiti, is under scrutiny for using donations given towards his Haitian Earthquake relief foundation for personal use. In a tearful statement, Wyclef refuted the accusations claiming mistakes were made with filing taxes late, but nothing questionable has happened with donations. I do not necessarily doubt Jean and his foundation, but there are many false charities cashing in on the current disaster.
