High energy and high volume with Billy Talent

During Earth Hour night instead of having a fondue or playing board games, 8,000 fans decided to head on down to the John Labatt Centre to see Billy Talent kick into high gear supporting his current album Billy Talent III.

The show started with a jolt as they played Devil in a Midnight Mass, calling for more crowd surfers and screaming. One thing that stood out was the amount of young fans attending, but this only added to the excitement of seeing this Juno Award winning band.

Ben Kowalewickz lead singer of Billy Talent were at the JLC last weekend.Throughout the powerful evening Ben Kowalewicz, the lead singer for Billy Talent, made references to the Canadian gold medal win in men's Olympic hockey and that, “The Maple Leafs rock no matter what!”

They broke into The River Below and had Tom Gabel of Against Me! Help out with Turn Your Back, a unique combination that added to their performance. The last three songs of their set included the chart topping hits, Nothing to Lose, The Ex, and Try Honesty that had fans screaming and singing along. Another wave of intensity could be felt as the encore started with Devil on My Shoulder and one last pop and crackle with Red Flag.

To get things warmed up at the JLC Cancer Bats started off this power chord showdown and got the corwd ready for what Kowalewicz claimed would “be the next big band in the U.S.,”

Against Me! only upped the ante and thrived off the excitement when they broke out with Stop, their radio breakout song. But this was only the beginning to next set on the bill.

Alexisonfire who played Call The Office not so long ago, took things another step as they jumped on stage and started doing what they do best and literally shook the JLC. Not only did they sound great, but looked good too, with the million watt seizure-esque technicolor flashing lights, and taking control of the stage, with Drunks, Lovers, Sinners and Saints.
