Alice in Wonderland a feast for the eyes

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

In his twisted sequel to Disney's Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton sucks audiences into a 3D fantasyland in this year's Alice in Wonderland. The cast was brilliant, the story captivating and the visuals stunning. Some may be disappointed that the story itself is more family friendly than you'd expect from Burton but it is truly an experience.

Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.Soon after the story begins and Alice (Mia Wasikowska) finds herself falling into a deep hole, similar to the classic story, it becomes clear that this is not the first time a girl named Alice has dropped into Wonderland. There has been an Alice there before whom the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), the Tweedles (Matt Lucas), Blue Caterpillar (Alan Rickman), the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) and White Queen (Anne Hathaway) remember well. The talented cast brought to life a story of a lost girl fulfilling her destiny and learning to understand who she is as an independent young woman.

As she lives out the adventure and comes to terms with the fact that, contrary to her belief she was dreaming and this is all really happening, Alice risks everything to help some of her mad friends find peace in Wonderland.

The great detail and care put into each scene is magnificent, from the creatures slaving away in every corner of the Red Queen's castle to the expressions on the faces of the Mad Hatter and his friends, Burton delivers a film not only unbelievable to look at but comical and touching.

Burton's Alice in Wonderland is about friendship, bravery and believing in yourself. Every single cast member brought their character to life and gave these fictional beings real personalities. Depp stood out in his offbeat role as the Mad Hatter and Hathaway had everyone laughing as the delicate and overly polite White Queen.

The 3D tale is definitely worth the price of admission even just as an experience in a land that only Burton could make so intricate and imaginative.
