Falcons impressing the OCAA, their hard work is paying off in medals

Pat Sewell earns OCAA hardware
Falcons basketball player Pat Sewell was selected as the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Male Athlete of the Week. Sewell is leading the Falcons in scoring, sits sixth in the OCAA scoring race averaging 20.4 PPG, and leads the OCAA in 3-pointers with 28.

Sewell added to his lead in the OCAA West division by leading Falcons to victories over Niagara College on November 23rd and Mohawk College on November 26th. Sewell scored 20 and 25 points respectively in each of those contests.

Falcon women remain undefeated heading into the New Year
After defeating Niagara College in thrilling fashion on November 23rd, the Falcons were riding high after captain Julie Yagi nailed a last-second three-point shot to earn the tough victory. Fanshawe continued their undefeated record after beating the Sheridan Bruins 49-38 on November 29th. Jessica Finlay led the Falcons with 23 points, with Kristin Breen contributing 10 points. Fanshawe sits a top the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) West division with a 5-0 record, and are ranked 3rd overall in the OCAA.

London native Thornton headed to the West coast
In a blockbuster deal in the National Hockey League, superstar player Joe Thornton was traded from the Boston Bruins to the San Jose Sharks for three players, Wayne Primeau, Marco Sturm, and Brad Stuart. After signing a three year, $20 million dollar contract in the off-season Thornton was surprised at the move. ‘'It's definitely a shock,'' Thornton said in a conference call. “I signed a three-year deal with Boston hoping to stay three years. I really thought this was a good contending team, but obviously when you don't win games things are gonna happen.”
