Since he was 10-years-old, Andrew Smith knew his true passion: basketball.

He has dabbled in other sports — he played on his high school football team and a bit of rep baseball — but basketball is what he has always wanted to pursue.

Smith currently plays as a guard for the Fanshawe Falcons, and he strives to be a leader on and off the court. "Our team this year is young, we have a lot of work we can do, but we have good chances and our goal for the year is to make it to provincials."

A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Smith attends Fanshawe's business marketing program. "Business marketing has the most options, and I'm not sure what exactly I'm going to do yet, so it was the best choice," he explained. He is now in his third year of the program.

"Being here at Fanshawe College has been a growing experience, I have learned a lot, I have matured a lot since I have been here and it has been a lot of fun as well," he said.

The Fanshawe Falcon men's basketball team have a 2-1 record after losing to Sheridan 81-65. The men have a home game on Wednesday, November 17 at 8 p.m. against the Niagara Knights.
