The women's basketball team have finally seen where they sit when it comes to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association's elite teams. On Wednesday, the Falcons faced the Sheridan Bruins and were dismantled to the tune of 77-44 by the defending OCAA champions.

Head coach Matt White was livid with his team's effort and numerous turnovers were the difference in the game. "We will go back to the drawing board this week and we will draw up some new defence," said assistant coach Larry Little.

Losing to a team like Sheridan is a good measuring stick to where you stand as a team.

"If you beat a team like Sheridan then you know you have what it takes to go far. If you lose to them, you figure out the mistakes and work on them," said White.

Playing their first league game in two weeks, the girls were sluggish when they started but battled back and forth the whole first half. The girls lost their composure in the second half and will have to be better in their next game.

"We need to keep our heads in the game next time and that will help us in our next contest," said captain Kaitlind Dutrizac.

After a long break it is hard to get back into the game. The women couldn't get the right magic at the beginning but as the Sheridan game went on the plays they worked on in practice started to show.

"We got into the defensive sets we practiced and that helped us to battle with the Bruins," said Little.

The Falcons were the top ranked team in Ontario going into their game against Sheridan. The Falcons record now sits at 2-1. Next up, the Falcons host the Niagara Knights on Wednesday, November 17 at 6 p.m.
