Positions on the Student Administrative Council have opened up in the schools of tourism and hospitality, contemporary media, human services, business, and manufacturing and motive power schools.

According to Carol Balzer, administrative services manager of the FSU, it is policy to check on SAC members' and execs' grades in early January. These students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in order to continue being on the council. "Unfortunately, five have not," she said.

Student council president Joe Scalia expressed his disappointment in having to open the spots at this point in the year, and noted that next year there will be a bigger emphasis that studies come first.

"Every year has some sort of set back, and the best advice given to me before starting in this position was to expect the unexpected," he said. "As much as it does suck to lose a large part of our team, we can't let that stop us from doing what we need to do this year."

For those interested, being a member of SAC only requires a couple of hours from you a month. It's a great way to learn more about the issues affecting students and get involved during your time at Fanshawe. It also looks good on a resume.

So if you think you've got what it takes to represent your school in student council, grab 10 signatures and submit it to the Student Union office at SC 2001. If you need more information, don't hesitate to stop by the office or email fsupres@fanshawec.ca for more information.
