Women looking for a better second half

It wasn't the first half of the season the Fanshawe Falcons women's basketball team wanted, ending it with a record of 3-4. However they are looking for a much better second half.

Playing each team again, the Falcons are optimistic that they will be able to do much better. The team had some rough stretches in games and that is what cost them, according to head coach Matt White. "We have had good, close games, but we can't seem to finish," White stated. This is true, as the women struggled to find wins after starting the season 2-0.

The team has had had a couple of weeks off to get re-focused and are now ready to face their opponents. The women have the majority of their games this half at home, which they hope will be to their advantage. Guard Phyna Lim said, "We need to play well in front of our crowd. Everybody is pushing for us." The team is looking to have a near-perfect second half of the season so they can sneak back in to the playoffs.

The Falcons are working on new defensive plays to help them limit opponents' scoring. They said they believe that if they can play better on defence then their offensive outputs will be better. They believe the key to their success is to be better on defence and capitalize on their offensive chances.

The extra practice may have helped, as the women kicked off the second half of the season with a 57-53 win over Mohawk.
