Fun and Fitness: Regimen designed for you

A service offered at many fitness facilities is an initial program design. Typically the way it works is that once you sign up as a new member, you are entitled to a program design, which allows you and a personal trainer to work together in devising a suitable program.

Unfortunately, the fitness industry has become a massive money-making business and these "complementary" programs have become more of a "financial hit" to newcomers.

Many students and staff around the college aren't aware that we offer this service as well. And guess what — we don't charge extra for this like most commercial gyms!

Once you've signed up to become a member at Fitness 101, you're entitled to a free program design. If you've been a member for some time now and are learning this for the first time, you have no need to worry as the offer continually stands. It's just a matter of paying us a visit at our front desk and booking an appointment with one of our certified personal trainers.

On the date of your appointment, come dressed and prepare yourself for a number of things.

First off, we generally gather some background information to get a sense of your physical activity background. This also gives us a chance to learn of any injuries, ailments or diseases for which we need to take precaution.

Once that is out of the way, we leave the floor to you so that you have a chance to tell us what you're hoping to achieve from your fitness membership. Whether it is weight loss, muscle gain, toning up or a combination of several different factors, hearing you out gives us a good indication of where to start.

Once we've organized some objectives, we take into account your schedule and availability. We'll get a sense of how much time you'd like to spend at the gym, and how it can be worked around your daily routine throughout the week.

After all is said and done, we devise the most suitable program based on your goals and needs and take you on a run-through of the facility. We then introduce you to the machines and exercises you'll be performing for your routine. Not only does this initial program help guide you towards achieving realistic goals, it allows us to ensure you'll be able to use the equipment safely.

For those of you who are in police foundations, paramedics or any other programs that involve physical testing as part of its practicum, this is of excellent use to you. Allowing us to help you develop a program structured for your testing guidelines will ensure you maximize your success come final examination time.

If you feel like a lost soul in the fitness centre and need some guidance, don't hesitate to take us up on this offer!
