Women have found their stride

The Fanshawe Falcons women's basketball team are rolling along through the second half of the season.

The team defeated the Redeemer Royals recently to improve their record to 5-5 as they head into battle with top teams in the OCAA Western division.

The Falcons, who were struggling through most of the first half of the season, are turning it on in the first three games of the second half. The team has started to communicate on the court, which means they're winning games and moving up in the standings. With only the top four teams making the playoffs, the Falcons need all the wins they can get.

Some of the ladies said they believe they need to prove to all their fans that they are still a dominant team and shouldn't be taken lightly.

The Falcons have a number of games left this season against teams that are lower than them in the standings. That starts on February 9 when the ladies battle rival St. Clair on the road. The Falcons need a win because St. Clair is below them in the standings and the Falcons need to build up a bigger lead in the standings and secure that fourth playoff spot.

The Falcons are back at home on Friday, February 11 against the Algoma Thunderbirds in J-Gym starting at 6 p.m. That is the Falcons' last home game of the season, and the ladies would love your support.
