On October 31, men in countries all around the world shave their faces in preparation for one of the most exiting campaigns of the year.

Movember is becoming one of the world's most recognizable campaigns where men, also known as Mo Bros, raise awareness by growing mustaches for the entire month of November. You can sign up solo or create a team and collect donations to help raise money for prostate cancer research.

In 2010, Canada had 119,000 registered Mo Bros and Mo Sistas and raised $22.3 million. This year, the Fanshawe Student Union is putting together a team and is running a bunch of exciting events to help raise money.

"Last year, we did Movember for the first time. The pilot project went really well, but we're hoping for an even bigger turnout this year," said FSU President Veronica Barahona. "It's a really great cause. We need to think about our boys. I'm a proud Mo Sista!"

Anyone who wants to join the FSU Movember team can register at the Biz Booth from November 1 to 4 for $5. When you register, you will have a clean-shaven "before" picture taken to compare to your wicked 'stache at the end of the month.

All month at the Out Back Shack and Oasis, you can purchase a paper mustache for $2, write your name on it and have it displayed on the wall of mustache glory. This year, paper mustaches can be charged to meal plans.

On November 10 in front of the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a Movember bake sale, and on November 17 the Oasis is holding a Paul Bunyan breakfast special from 7:30 to 10 a.m.

In keeping with Movember tradition, there is a pub night in the Out Back Shack on November 24 where they will be raffling off men — yes, men.

Finally, for all the members of the FSU Movember team, on December 6 and 7 there will be online voting for a series of awards such as best 'stache, worst 'stache and most creative 'stache. Winners will be announced on December 8 and will receive some awesome prizes.

FSU Recreation and Leisure placement student Martin Flanagan is very excited for this year's Movember campaign. "I'm really looking forward to seeing Fanshawe's men support this great cause and promote awareness about prostate cancer."

Whether you're growing a handlebar, a walrus, a dali, a fu manchu, or you're just a Mo Sista supporting your Bros, there are plenty of ways to get involved with Movember.
