Fanshawe College staff and students worked hard to raise a record-breaking $106,413 for the United Way campaign - $6,413 over this year's goal.

This marks the second year in a row that the Fanshawe community contributed over $100,000 to the campaign. The funds raised will be contributed to United Way agencies in Fanshawe's four counties: London/Middlesex, Haldimand/Norfolk, Oxford and Elgin/St. Thomas.

The campaign, which kicked off in October with a chili cookoff, saw over 100 volunteers helping to raise the funds with events including a silent auction, bingos, re-gifting sales and more, as well as a penny drive earlier this month that raised over $1,000.

"Recognizing the need within our communities, staff and students from all campuses of Fanshawe College rose to the challenge," said Dr. Howard Rundle, President of Fanshawe College. "We are very proud of the collective contribution we will be making to help provide services for children, families and individuals within our regions."

"As we are all aware, our region is experiencing tremendous challenges and the Fanshawe College community has responded generously," said United Way CEO Andrew Lockie. "They recognize that change starts one person at a time and when we come together we can build a better community for us all.
