Around The Ring: Smackdown dropping the ball and Trish's last stand

Well, another week and another lacklustre edition of Smackdown. I think that it's so weird that the WWE wastes a lot of time with contract signings. We know that Batista and King Booker are going to square off again, so why do we have to waste precious TV time with a signing? I'd rather have one of the two cut a decent promo and then have it end with beating. I guess this is the best the writers can do.

Speaking of writers, why is The Big Show spending more time on Raw than on ECW and why is The Big Show the McMahon's special weapon? Couldn't they get someone else on the roster to push? I mean, Umaga has been used decently and he's undefeated, so why can't they develop his character more?

Back on the Smackdown side of things, Ken Kennedy is now the U.S. Champ and I don't understand it for the life of me. I simply just don't like this guy and don't care if he can say his own name in an announcer voice. Big deal. Before this guy, Fit Finley was the champ and I don't understand that either. Finley was hard to care about either way. I didn't like him and I didn't care to dislike him. To me, that's a bad character and with the belt on Kennedy, I won't care, either. Hopefully we'll see some good matches between Kennedy and Bobby Lashley to spruce up the ol' Friday night show.

With Unforgiven two weeks away, the card is shaping up to be a good one. The McMahons and Big Show vs. DX should be a bloody battle, Cena vs. Edge in a TLC match will probably be the match of the night and Trish Stratus will be going against Lita for the women's championship in her farewell match. I'll be giving my rundown and predictions in an upcoming issue.

One of the best parts about Raw this week (and a promising rematch for Unforgiven) was Johnny Nitro vs. Jeff Hardy. These two put on a pay-per-view quality match on Monday, and although it does suck that Melina cost Hardy the belt (when he SO obviously had it won), it makes sense to keep the possible title change for the PPV and make people want to buy the event. If these two outdo last Monday's match up on the PPV, I will be totally impressed.

Just a reminder to those wrestling fans that are interested, the WWE fantasy league is now open for season eight registration. I've never played it before, but I've decided to put my money where my mouth is a see if I can win a trip through my efforts. I'll keep you all posted about how much I'm rocking!
