Tubing at Boler Mountain is just one of many activities to do in London over the holidays.

Victoria Park:

Victoria Park is a festive way to light up your mood and put you in the holiday spirit. With Christmas lights on trees, decorations and holiday music playing at the bandshell, in the heart of downtown, this is something you cannot leave off your to-do list. In front of the bandshell is a public skating rink that is free to use. Skates are also available for rent depending on the time and day. Another small ice rink is located just outside of the Covent Garden Market. Don’t forget to grab a hot chocolate from local coffee shops nearby such as Fire Roasted Café, Cardboard Café or the Black Walnut to warm yourself up after.

Boler Mountain:

There’s no need to be sliding into everyone’s DMs this holiday season when you can go sliding down a large snow hill instead. At Boler Mountain there are multiple winter activities that you can participate in such as tubing, skiing and snowboarding. Bring out the inner child in you again by going adult tobogganing, otherwise known as taboozing. What’s not to love about racing at turbo speeds down a slippery snow hill on a rubber tube? Totally safe; tubing is $18 for those over 13, unless you go on a Thursday where the price drops to $14 and your ticket is valid for two hours. For those who want some physical activity, skiing and snowboarding are other options whether you are a beginner or an expert. Lessons and equipment are available and prices depend on rentals; however, on Wednesday Fanshawe students can purchase a four-hour lift ticket and rentals for $22 each with valid student ID. Remember to bundle up in your snow gear, and while snow pants may make you look like an Oompa Loompa, they are highly recommended.

The Grand Theatre:

Don’t be a scrooge this season. Watch A Christmas Carol be performed at the Grand from Dec. 13 to Dec. 24. Watching a play is a unique way to enjoy a Christmas classic. Another play that is being performed this season is The Wizard of Oz from Nov. 21 to Dec. 31. Tickets are available on grandtheatre. com.

Snowshoeing:

For the more adventurous type, a winter hike to burn off your Christmas dinner is a great sweat-inducing workout that is sure to warm you up. Having what looks like tennis rackets stuck to the bottom of your snow boots is a rare Canadian accessory that will add serious fashion points to your look. Hiking trails can be found online at ontariotrailsmap. com.

Snow time:

As long as there is snow, there is something to do. Grab your friends and go on a walk, build a snowman, make a snow angel, build a fort, have a snowball fight. Sometimes the simplest of moments are the ones that make the best memories and it’s not every day you get the opportunity to shove snow down your friend’s collar (just try to make it look like an accident).
