Fanshawe is finalizing a lease agreement to move into the former Westervelt College building on 1060 Wellington Rd.

Fanshawe College is making lease arrangements to expand into south London.

According to an April 10 media release, the College is working to create a new campus at 1060 Wellington Rd. The location is the site of the former Westervelt College building.

The lease comes as part of the College’s response to current labour market needs and limited space.

“Fanshawe’s exceptional education offerings and graduate employment rates continue to attract new students from across Ontario and around the globe,” Fanshawe College President, Peter Devlin, said in the release. “We’re pleased to be expanding our new presence in this south London campus.”

The space will accommodate 250 students in the fall, along with 850 students when renovations are complete.

The first intake of students will come from the agri-business management, business management, business and information systems architecture and residence retirement management graduate certificate programs.

The south campus will lead to the hiring of new faculty positions and student services staff, including a housing co-ordinator and on-site career services counsellor.

The new location is near White Oaks Mall and on several London Transit bus routes.

Fanshawe College is the largest community college in southwestern Ontario, with 43,000 students. The south site will be Fanshawe’s sixth London location, along with regional campuses in Simcoe, St. Thomas and Woodstock.

The College opened its newest location on Dundas Street., in September 2018.
