Students gathering for summer BBQ at Forwell Hall, Fanshawe College

On May 9, 2019 Fanshawe Student Union (FSU) hosted a free summer barbeque event for Fanshawe full-time students studying in the current summer term.

Although FSU primarily planned to hold the event at SUB Courtyard, on the day of the event hosting was moved to Forwell Hall due to the weather condition. The arrangement for the event started before 9 a.m. and was fully prepared at 11 a.m. for lunch time.

The main supply was beef and veggie hot dogs, accompanied with soda and potato chips. FSU employees mainly were busy with offering food and drink, welcoming students and taking videos and photos from the event. A considerable number of students were attending the event, which was obvious with the full and crowded hall. Almost all tables and chairs were occupied with domestic and international students mainly in groups. It seemed that everybody was having a good time.

Interrobang had the chance to interview FSU student life co-ordinator, Joey Langdon. He explained that the event was arranged to give every student the chance to meet their classmates and also students from the other programs. He added that it was an opportunity for international students to get familiar with domestic students and Canadian culture as well. He believed hot dogs were popular in North America and mentioned veggie diet is getting more popular among some of students, so FSU had provided the veggie hot dog as a main choice as well. He found the hot dog delicious, as he already had one, and hoped that more people would join this kind of event in future.
