FUEL is turning up the heat

Three new trophies finally arrived at Fanshawe from the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Fall semester.

The FUEL Overwatch team are starting off with a blast and some newcomers to the team. Albert Butros (LIGHTNRESET) is the new person in charge of the Overwatch team. FUEL only has one team this season. Albert said that this is their first time being in a manager role.

“I got to see a lot of people tryout, they were all amazing but of course some stood out more than others,” Butros said. The whole team is set and the league they are participating in is the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) in the Gold-Plat division. They fought well in their match against the Stevenson Mustangs and kept it close within the match but in the end, they lost 3-2.

Three new trophies finally arrived at Fanshawe from the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Fall semester. The first trophy on the left (above) is from the Valorant Emergents in the Mideast conference. The one in the middle is the Valorant challengers from the south Great Lakes conference. On the far right is the Rainbow Six Siege Challengers division. All teams are excited to hold these trophies high for Fanshawe and to keep this winning streak in the 2023 Winter semester.

Fanshawe is feeling hot here at the start of some league matches. In some Rocket League action, the FUEL team faced Kean RL White and won 4-1. The FUEL League of Legends (RL) team is coming off of a hot win as well going 2-1 in a best out of three match-up. The FUEL RL Academy played strong but unfortunately was not able to snag the win against UNCG Gold and lost 4-1. In Valorant, the FUEL team played their hearts out against the Stony Brook Red but lost 2-0 out of a best out of three match-up. The R6 team is turning it up, winning 2-0 in a best out of three against Defiance.

The SSBU FUEL team will be playing in the NECC for the first time this semester. Due to local Super Smash Bros. tournaments at Fanshawe on Monday and Thursdays, NECC was their only viable option. Azel is the manager for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate FUEL team and has mentioned that they have had some rough patches in past semesters but they are looking on bringing the heat this semester.

“We have some crazy players this term and some players are getting better, I’m looking forward to how they do this year,” Azel said. The team just faced off against OWU Crimson and won 2-0 in a best of three match-up and are hoping to keep their momentum going.

The Call of Duty FUEL team had an interesting start for their winter semester in the qualifiers. They faced off against some strong teams but still proved that they are here to play. Up against York U, FUEL kept a good momentum but lost 3-1 in a best out of five match-up. The team was able to clutch up with great chemistry coming all around against Marshall UECA. With Bonk and Fein making some big moves and with BosFrosts 1000 IQ plays the team was able to secure a position in division two of the CCL league.

More massive plays and games are on the way as the team’s FUEL up for the start of their league games. Moving onto some other things in the gaming world.
