Around the Ring: Raw rebounds with comedy

I hate to say it but the beginning of Raw was quite funny. Yes, DX is all about merchandising now more than being rude and obscene (which was the best about five years ago), but Triple H's humour and wit backed up by HBK's timing was great. Having Hornswaggle and the Boogyman want to be a part of DX was fun but it got too much with Khali coming out to the ring. It didn't add anything.

Hornswaggle vs. Khali at the Survivor Series? C'mon...we're going to waste more time on a PPV? Perhaps someone will come to Hornswaggle's rescue and “save” him. It COULD happen, right?

The whole Santino/Stone Cold segment was great. Goddamn that Santino is funny. With quotes such as “stomp a mud pie” and “a can of ass whip,” how could you not laugh? I think he actually stood his ground against Austin and the lack of “WHAT?!?!?” by the crowd showed they were actually into the verbal showdown. Too bad the ending was done a couple of times before. I actually felt sorry for Santino and Maria at the end. Santino smoked his head pretty bad on the second turnbuckle when he slipped and Maria's tender skin looked to have been stung when the pressure from the “beer” hit her.

What's with Carlito and the World's Greatest Tag Team lately? They have been jobbed so badly! Carlito is entertaining, decent in the ring and great on the mic. As a tag team, Hass and Benjamin are gold but Benjamin is the best overall as a singles wrestler. I guess they can only afford to give great stars about five minutes of TV time a week because HHH wants 45.

This week's TNA PPV looks to be pretty good. Angle and Nash (ugh) vs. Sting and a mystery opponent that's held gold in every organization he's been in. Could it be Scott Hall (who's scheduled to appear on Impact this week) or could it be none other than Booker T?

With the way Samoa Joe bled for TV last week for his pre-fight with Robert Roode, you KNOW that the match between these two at Genesis is going to be awesome. If you didn't see how badly Joe got cut up by hitting his forehead across the ring stairs, make sure you youtube it.

Abyss vs. Black Reign should be interesting, too. There's a hint that Judas Mesias may be coming back and that means Abyss will be bloody by the end of this match.

My thoughts on the PPV results and Survivor Series are coming next week. Make your opinions about wrestling heard online at www.fsu.on.ca/interrobang.
