Web Links: Making metal on the web

Metal that sounds like other metal
Search at www.youtube.com
Have you ever listened to a song and though, “I've heard this before?” Are you so keen on your music that when hear something “new” nowadays you say, “(insert crappy radio band name) ripped (cool band name) off!”

Well, the guy that has made these videos (I think he has eight now) has taken the time to go through many metal songs (from all genres) and show where other bands have actually recorded the same (or slightly different) riff. It's really neat to see the comparisons. With so many riffs out there, yes, many bands don't realize they're ripping off another tune.

Speaking of metal, I recently found this site that showcases some really cool reviews (many older but informative ones here), interviews and a neat top 50 death metal albums of all time. Some of the picks I've never heard of before, but the reason I like looking at many site's lists is discovering some older metal that I may have missed out on the first time around (eg: Massacre, Pestilence and some older Immolation).

Happy and Angry Video Game Nerds

I know you can also find these videos on Youtube, but here's another site where you can watch them plus a bunch of other content courtesy of the host site, Videogametrailers.com.

These 10-20 minute clips featuring the AVGN and the HVGN are really hilarious. The Happy Nerd reviews more of the cooler and forgotten games (buried treasures like StarTropics that JUST got released for the Wii Virtual Console — booyah!) while the Angry Nerd reviews some of the worst games ever made. Both of these guys let the vulgarity fly, but the Angry Nerd really lets the expletives loose in some creative ways as he yells at the awful games he's playing (like the old NES version of Dragon's Lair). Have a laugh!

I don't know who will appreciate this more: lonely guys, girls who love lingerie or couples looking to spice up their, uh, special times. Pick from some models who will then walk out onto the screen and dress them up in any of the available garments that are available for purchase. It's a really neat concept site and I can see many clothing lines using this style of site pretty soon. It's touted as “the world's first virtual online dressing room!”
