Ladies extramural hockey team off to mixed start

On Friday January 25th, the Fanshawe Women's extramural hockey team traveled to their first tournament “The Wild West Shoot-out” hosted by Lambton College in Sarnia.

The team's first game against McMaster University ended in a 4-0 loss. Despite the setback the women were able to regroup and got their legs under them for their second game against Conestoga College, which at the end of regulation was knotted up at 2-2. They then headed to a shoot-out where in the fourth round Conestoga's shooter scored the winning goal.

The women were pretty tired after the back-to-back games heading into their third against Mohawk College where the final score was 5-1 for Mohawk.

The winners of the tournament were: gold medal — McMaster University, Silver medal — St. Lawrence College, bronze medal — Mohawk College. The fair play award went to Conestoga College.

The women will travel to their next tournament on February 15th, hosted by Conestoga College in Kitchener.
