Pete's Links: Wasting time on the web

I really need some kind of catchy name for this column. I am offering a challenge for any of you readers to come up with a column name. In return, I'll get your name printed and, uh, hmmm.....my own personal two thumbs up! How about that?!??! Well, onto the show this week...

Mental-floss Magazine online
www.metalfloss.com
I was going to describe this site that a buddy recently got me into, but instead I'll share their write up about their own site (it's probably better than I could do!).
“Mental-floss magazine is an intelligent read, but not too intelligent. We're the sort of intelligent that you hang out with for a while, enjoy our company, laugh a little, smile a lot and then we part ways. Great times. And you only realize how much you learned from us after a little while. Like a couple days later when you're impressing your friends with all these intriguing facts and things you picked up from us, and they ask you how you know so much, and you think back on that great afternoon you spent with us and you smile.”

So there you have it! It's a good read for everyone!

Celebrities that look like Star Wars figures
http://www.toplessrobot.com
This one is good for a laugh. I always that the General Rieken figure looked like John Kerry...and now I realize that I'm not crazy thinking that my toys have a life of their own. Anyway, check out the rest of the site. It features lots of pop culture news that you need to know about!

INSANE!
http://www.break.com/index/crazy-kid-does-pull-ups-off-crane.html (or type in “pull ups crane” at break.com)
It has been a long time since I've actually felt sick watching something on the Internet. I know they wouldn't post someone falling from a 200-storey (or so) crane, but just watching these stupid guys climb up a crane and then do pull-ups on it is just nauseating. Perhaps I was getting vertigo.

Count Von Count vs. the FCC
http://www.break.com/index/count-the-fcc-violations.html
Another “break” video here, but it's too good not to list. Do you like Sesame Street? Do you like counting? Do you like implied vulgarity? Then go here now.

Sessler's Soapbox
http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/blog/tag/172/Sesslers_Soapbox.html
I can't forget you gamers out there. If you don't watch G4 TV's “Attack of the Show” and “X-Play,” shame on you. Adam Sessler co-hosts “X-Play” and now does his on weekly video blog (on Wednesdays). His comments are intriguing and fair. If you want some good gaming journalism, look no further.
