Around the Ring: What will happen this week in the ring

There's A LOT to cover this week. First up, the No Mercy PPV results for the matches that actually mattered.

HBK vs. Chris Jericho
(Winner: Jericho)

Great ladder match with some good spots. Poor Jericho lost a tooth to boot! Let's see where HBK goes after this one. All hail Jericho!

WWE Champion Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy
(Winner: HHH)

This match was one of the best matches HHH and Hardy have had in a long time. It was surprising to see Hardy be such an aggressor against the powerhouse. The ending where Hardy got flipped over at the last second for the three count made me chuck my pillow and curse at the TV, but it wasn't surprising with Hardy's track record. Here's to a rematch.

ECW Champion Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry
(Winner: Hardy)

My PPV channel was messing up and I didn't get to see it. From what I read, it wasn't as bad as most people thought it would be.

Batista vs. JBL
(Winner: Batista)

In under six minutes, Batista burried JBL. Why? I have no clue. Maybe JBL is going to be taking a little break soon, but I have no idea why he's been jobbing so much lately. Actually, I don't care. F JBL.

Big Show vs. Undertaker
(Winner: Big Show)

This match was what you would expect from these two: nothing spectacular. The ending where the ref stopped the match because ‘Taker was “out” was dumb. I know it's fake, but Show should have been disqualified for removing the turnbuckle and then using three closed fists. Like I said last issue, this feud is far from over until ‘Taker gets retribution in some gimmick match.

Rey Mysterio vs. Kane
(Winner: Mysterio via DQ)

A DQ finish due to a chair shot on the OUTSIDE? Please. This was stupid.

The following night's Raw didn't really build on any feuds. We saw Batista vs. JBL in another squash match that had an ending that made no sense, HBK squash Lance Cade and other pointless matches (see: the women's match). The only thing this episode did was set up some potenital “Cyber Sunday” stipulations — more on that next week.

On the TNA side of things, this Sunday's PPV looks to have a decent card. I'm sure that Sting vs. Samoa Joe will be a decent bout, but I have a funny feeling something weird will take place that will let Joe retain.

While I don't like Jeff Jarrett, it's going to be interesting to see how the match between the “boss” and the ungrateful employee (due to his comments in the UK Sun) plays out (especially with Mick Foley being the special “enforcer”). Who will Foley side with? Does Kurt Angle have a secret weapon? This one has too many different routes that I can't make a solid call.
