Project LEARN spring program completed

As the school year comes to a close, so does London Police Services Project LEARN.

In the third week of the program, the last week in April, there were 13 criminal charges made — two of these were students and eleven were not.

Officers gave out 140 Provincial Offence Notices, with 87 being students and 53 nonstudents.

The total numbers for the spring LEARN program saw an increase from last year's.

This year there were 41 criminal charges, 514 Provincial Offence Notices, and 70 arrests.

Last year, there were 35 criminal charges, 419 Provincial Offence Notices and 49 arrests.

The slight increase in incidents could be due to the weather, said Const. Amy Phillipo, media relations officer. But overall, students and residents exhibited a more compliance with the program and a “pleasant” attitude towards officers with this year's spring program as opposed to past years, she added.
