Fanshawe's men's varsity basketball team is already showing promise as they gear up for the upcoming season.

About 60 men tried out, which was then pared down to 16, but due to some injuries there are now 14. With eight rookies and six returning players, the team is on its way.

It's too early to see where the team will be heading, but head coach Glenn Johnston said "There's a lot of talented guys on the team and because of that they will be successful."

Similar to any sport team, their goal for this year is to win Canadian Colleges Athletic Association championship. After sitting in on the team's practice, there's no doubt the men have the ability to make it far. Johnston's practices push the men to the best of their ability and he doesn't give up on them.

With the support of family, friends, students and faculty cheering them on in their games, the team is sure to prosper. The men have their first regular season home game on Wednesday, October 27, at 8 p.m. against St. Clair.
