The Heel Turn: Knockout's division in some turmoil

Some very disappointing news coming from TNA, as they've apparently released Hamada, who was one half of the Knockouts Tag Team Champions alongside Taylor Wilde, whose own contract recently expired. Not only was she a champ, but Hamada was also one of the more talented Knockouts in a division that is slowly losing its integrity. She joins Awesome Kong, ODB, Roxxi and Traci Brooks on the list of skilled and fierce female competitors who no longer find themselves on the TNA roster. By TNA's account, they had to release Hamada due to "passport issues," yet another source indicated that she didn't have the look the company wanted. Makes me wonder what management is thinking when they treat such talent like this, yet spend money to have JWoww on the show.

There is still some hope for the Knockouts division though, as Tara, Mickie James and Sarita have been fairly active on Impact recently. They do, however, have to change the direction they are going with Tara. She's always been a tough competitor, so the fact that they have her following orders from Madison Rayne doesn't make sense. She certainly didn't need help to get the Divas belt when she was in the WWE, and she wouldn't give it up without one hell of a fight either. It looks like James is on a collision course soon with Rayne for the Knockouts title, but that would be a mistake. She needs to put in suitable time first and pay her TNA dues. A more deserving contender for the belt at this time would be Sarita.

As a result of the Knockouts Tag Championships being vacated, a tournament was held with the remaining Knockouts competing. This ultimately led to Angelina Love and Winter winning the belts.

On RAW this past week, The Miz defended the WWE title in a falls count anywhere match against his former friend and tag partner, John Morrison. The advantage seemed to be in Miz's favour at the start since he had Alex Riley there to back him up. Morrison managed to eliminate the threat posed by Riley, and used his athleticism and Parkour ability to nearly beat The Miz, until he missed delivering his finisher "Starship Pain" and crashed through a table. This mistake allowed The Miz to put Morrison down for the three count. For some reason though this match took place right at the start of the show. Considering it was a title match, it should have been the main event at the end. Lately though, there hasn't been as much focus on who is champ, as there is on the number one contender.

There were three possible candidates competing for the number one contender spot: Orton, Wade Barrett, and King Sheamus. They battled each other in a steel cage match. All three took every opportunity they could to climb out of the cage, with Barrett making the final ascent. His escape was thwarted by CM Punk, however, who tricked Barrett into believing he was helping him, but then ripped Barrett's Nexus armband off and kicked him down into the ring. This act of treachery on Punk's part solidified his position as the new leader of Nexus, and also allowed Orton to just walk out of the cage for his title shot against The Miz.
