Grab your lightsaber, put in your fangs, throw your underwear on over your spandex and get ready! The Wizard World Toronto Comic Con is a weekend-long event that brings the best in movies, comics, toys, video gaming, games, TV, anime, manga, horror, wrestling, original art, collectibles and more. It is taking place the weekend of March 18 to 20 at the Direct Energy Centre in the Exhibition Place.

This year's Comic Con will feature many exciting celebrity guests, most notably, actors from Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Battlestar Galactica. Wizard World Inc. CEO Gareb Shamus is very excited about the Star Wars celebrity guests they were able to book for the show in Toronto. "If you're a Star Wars fan, you have to come out to the show," said Shamus. The list of Star Wars actors attending includes Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, Peter Mayhew, Jeremy Bulloch, Jake Lloyd and Daniel Logan.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer guests include Clare Kramer, Julie Benz and Mercedes McNab, or, as Shamus described them, "three beautiful women from Buffy." Don't worry, ladies, Buffy star Nicholas Brendon will be there too.

Kate Vernon and Aaron Douglas from Battlestar Galactica will also be at this year's Toronto Comic Con, as well as many exhibitors and dealers.

Comic Con has seen a shift from being centred on comics to being a Mecca of all things pop culture, so throw any of your preconceived notions about this event out the window.

Shamus said this shift is part of Wizard World's plan. "We're trying to really get to people who are really excited about the things that they're into, so we appeal to people who are fans of TV shows or movies or comic books or toys, and really build these communities at our show."

Those of you who are die-hard comic book fans don't need to worry; just because Comic Con is including a wider variety of entertainment doesn't mean they aren't still focused on the roots of the event. The area of the event known as the artist alley will feature 100 talented artists and creators, which, according to Shamus, is "an amazing threshold to reach."

There will also be some classic Comic Con events such as trading card games and costume contests, and fans will have the opportunity to take photos with their favourite guests and purchase autographs.

Given that the guest list for this event changes from year to year, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet some of your favourite celebrities and artists. "For a lot of people it's a very emotional experience because they get to meet a lot of people that they grew up either wanting to be or wanting to meet ... it's really a dream come true," said Shamus.

Shamus said there will "absolutely" be special announcements made at the Toronto Comic Con, but wouldn't give any inside scoop about what they'll be. It looks like you'll just have to go to Comic Con to find out what they are.

Tickets for the three-day weekend are $45, and V.I.P. tickets are $150.
