Forest City Surplus has opened London's first airsoft range after noticing a growing interest in the sport. Airsoft is a sport that uses replica firearms to shoot smaller diameter plastic pellets out of spring-, battery- or gas-powered guns. The sport originated in Japan in the 1980s, where guns are banned for civilian use, and has since spread globally.

'When we first started carrying airsoft three years ago, we were flooded with anxious airsoft customers,' said Tim Hodges, marketing manager at Forest City Surplus.

'We have been expanding the number of guns we carry to 37 varieties,' said Jamie Finnemore, Forest City Surplus' airsoft expert. 'We carry the classic look-a-likes like the AK-47 and the infamous 1920s Tommy gun.' Forest City Surplus now carries the largest selection of airsoft guns in Southwestern Ontario.

'With students getting stressed out preparing for exams, we expect to see Fanshawe students in firing airsoft guns to relieve stress,' said Hodges. Swing by the Forest City Surplus firing range to blow of a little steam.

Visit Forest City Surplus at 1712 Dundas St. or the airsoft gun section of their website http://www.fcsurplus.ca/shopping/products/c359-airsoft-guns-and-accessories/ for more information about their airsoft products and firing range.
