Grammy night winners and losers

U2, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend were the big winners at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards last Wednesday. The lack of a host and minimal speeches made the night more about the music than the artists egos, with the obvious exception of Kanye West and his giant “Thank You List.”

The biggest upset was by comeback diva Mariah Carey, who was shut out of record and album of the year even though The Emancipation of Mimi was the top-selling CD of 2005.

One of the biggest problems, which keeps getting worse every year, was the length of the show. At three and a half hours, it was hard for anyone to stay tuned, let alone stay entertained.
