Fun and Fitness: Don't let yourself go this summer

It's hard to believe that we've already reached the end of the school year. It sounds clichéd but each year definitely goes by faster and faster. I won't keep you guys long since its crunch time and you're all frantically finishing up last minute assignments and preparing for exams. But before I sign off, I'd like to leave all of you with some ‘food for thought'.

For the past three summers, I have progressively got into the worst possible shape of my entire life. Yet, the past three winters, I'd always get in top form. Talk about doing things ass backwards. Who the hell does that? Honestly! Aren't you supposed to look your best for the summer? Every summer I get into this mode where I think I'm a rock star and I'm doing it up Marky Mark style like four times a week. Then September rolls around and I look like complete shit. Who the hell comes back from summer looking worse? Me, I've got that title, so don't try and take it!

Don't fall into this trap. This is your warning. Take a good look back at your 2005/2006 school year. Now try and recollect your eating habits, your exercise habits, and your partying habits. Let's face it, for the most part, especially first year students, most of you get an A+ for falling off the wagon. Now amplify that in the summer when there are tons of cold drinks to be had on those hot sunny days. It's easy to get caught partying nonstop throughout the summer, yet that basketball net in your driveway doesn't see a lick of action. Summer time is the best time to party AND bike/rollerblade/swim/walk/ jog/run/play sports/dance/skinny dip followed by running from police. I think you guys get my point.

Make a conscious effort to remember that the summer season should be the best opportunity of the year for all aspects of your lives. Work hard to party harder. For some of you, it's your first year of college and you'll be returning in no time. For others, you'll be graduating and moving on with the rest of your lives. Either way, it's been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to write for you, the fans of my article, and I look forward to doing it all over again next year. I wish the best to everyone who'll be moving on. As for those of you returning with your summer tans and dyed hair-doos, don't forget to bring your best physiques - unlike yours truly!
